The event will take place at The Palace of Culture from Tg-Mures, building that dates starting with the beginning on 20th century, one of the most representative buildings of the Transylvanian art nouveau. Built in the style of the Odon Lecher's school, the Palace enjoins through the interior and exterior scenery.
The main body is formed by the concert hall also named Great Hall, with a marvelous acoustics remarked by the great local and foreign musicians that concerted here during the years. This was equipped with a proper organ, one of the greatest in the country. The monumental attribute of the hall is given by the height of the ceiling and the rounded dome.
The Great Hall was fully restored in 1964, abiding exactly the characteristics of the style, with wan violet as the main color of the hall with ornamental motives cleaned and gilded with thin gold foils. The chairs were replaced with modern ones, coated in red plush, and the pillars that are backing the superior part of the balcony, were gilded.
Known as an architectural, art, and culture monument, the Palace of Culture is one of the most representative buildings of the Transylvanian art nouveau. Provided with monumental plastic art, like: mosaic, frescos, bronze and stone bas-relieves, with laic stained glass windows with a world prestige; the Palace of Culture enrolls as one the most important monuments in the country.
The distinguished atmosphere from the lobby is given by the ornamental, floral and geometric motives and by the frescos present on the calotte and its walls, elements highly valuable from the esthetic point of view.
Continental Hotel in Tg-Mures
Former City Hall, the building of Prefecture in Tg-Mures was built between 1906 and 1907, beyond the Komor and Jakab layouts. The administrative palace for 55 years was the centre of the City Hall, the first building that gave a new look to the urban center.
Attained in secessionist style, enriched with ornamental motives inspired from the popular art, the Prefecture is remarks through its 60 meters tall tower. This was initially built as a fire turret of the city and it is covered as all the building with colored majolica. The interior lobby and the council's room were garnished with stained glass windows. Since 1990 this becomes the administrative center of Mures County.
The Hall of Mirrors is the most beautiful hall of the palace. It's name comes from the two Venetian mirrors at the ends of the hall that seem to multiply the space. It was built as a banqueting hall and is adequately furnished with mural paintings and 12 stained glass windows inspired from folklore, considered as unique in Europe.
The third stained glass window from the Mirror Hall portrays a bucolic house with wooden steps and carved pillars. A great space of the stained glass window is covered by few clouds floating on the blue sky. Down on the fence, a rooster announcing the changing of weather, breaking the tranquility and the loneliness given by this work.
The lobby wrapped up with a diffuse light concordant with the ochre background, is loomed with a yellow tulip on equal distances. The most important part of the decoration are the 0 frescos, inspired from the Transylvanian popular ballads, each one having an unique life, a self atmosphere.
At the two ends of the lobby, there are mirrors braced on the end walls, practice found on the empire and rococo styles, framed with solid borders of polished yellow marble with white vignette. A series of pillars are holding the ceiling and domes with the shape of spherical and elliptical calottes.
